Introduction
What TrueUpp does: apply each contract's commit, rollover and tiers to your usage, draft the true-up lines, and let a person approve every number.
TrueUpp works out what each customer owes under a usage-based contract, and drafts it in your billing system for your team to finalize. You enter each contract's terms once: included credits, metric weights, free allowance, rollover, grace, overage tiers and amendments. TrueUpp applies them to the usage you import and shows every step of the calculation, with the clause each step came from.
A person approves every line before anything reaches a customer.
The close in five steps
- Model your contracts. Enter the terms in the contract form, or import the YAML a TrueUpp audit produced. Each term carries its clause reference. See modeling a contract.
- Import usage. Upload a CSV, send rows to the usage webhook, or (Growth) sync a view from your warehouse. A file imports completely or not at all. See usage CSV formats.
- Run the close. A run closes every period that ended by the date you choose, using usage imported before its cutoff. It drafts the lines and raises exceptions that need a person. See running the close.
- Review and approve. Open a line to see its trace: usage, free allowance, rollover lots drawn, included credits, grace, overage and tier pricing. Resolve any exceptions, then approve. See reviewing lines.
- Push drafts. Approved lines go to Stripe as draft invoice items, or (Growth) to NetSuite as invoices in Pending Approval. Your team finalizes them as usual. See connecting Stripe.
What TrueUpp never does
- It never finalizes, sends, charges, voids or deletes anything in Stripe. It creates draft invoices and draft invoice items only.
- It never approves an invoice in NetSuite. Invoices arrive in Pending Approval, and your NetSuite approval routing releases them.
- It never approves or pushes on its own. A scheduled close runs the numbers and emails approvers. People approve and push.
- It never changes a line once it's approved. Usage that arrives late is posted as an adjustment on the next open period.
- It never writes to your warehouse. Warehouse sync uses a read-only credential on one view.
What each plan includes
Every plan includes the contract form and terms import, CSV and webhook usage imports, runs with full calculation traces, the exceptions inbox, Stripe draft pushes, audit statements, the sample-month clause, roles and the audit log.
